About CSER

The Centre for Studies in Ethics and Rights is a research and training institute established by the Anusandhan Trust in 2005.

Our vision

Promoting ethics, human rights and social relevance in professional practice, research, and training in health, education, law, media and social welfare and all other aspects of public life

Mission

  • To undertake research and writing in the above disciplines;
  • To educate, train and mentor students, academics and professionals;
  • To provide an open space for public discussion and debate;
  • To foster collaboration among different organisations and institutions with a view to promoting ethics and human rights.

Strategies

  • Establish a high quality research and training institute through ensuring training, mentoring and rigorous peer review
  • Involve all those interested in ethics through internships, summer placements, assignments, study circles and seminars
  • Create resources on ethics
  • Foster ethics in institutions by organising National Bioethics Conferences and other conferences, providing training and review services through the CSER
  • Undertake advocacy and activism on ethical issues

People

Presently, it has 10 staff members which include 7 research officers, 2 research assistants, one administrator.

All training and research activities conducted by CSER are reviewed by faculty, consisting of senior staff members, governing board members and external consultants. It reviews all proposals, papers and reports related to the research conducted by CSER. Its members include Amar Jesani, Neha Madhiwalla, Nobhojit Roy, Padma Deosthali, Padma Prakash, and Sandhya Srinivasan.
